How we handle errors

Every published mistake gets reviewed, acknowledged, and either fixed or explained. This page is the full policy, not a stub.

How to report an error

Email corrections@yeswesure.com with:

  • The exact page URL where you saw the issue.
  • A quoted sentence or the specific claim you believe is wrong.
  • A link to a primary source that supports the correct value, if you have one. For regulatory and statutory claims, a state insurance department page, DMV page, state statute, or AM Best / NAIC publication is ideal.

You do not need to be a lawyer, an expert, or a journalist to report an error. If something on a page looks wrong, that is enough; we will investigate.

What happens when you report

  1. Acknowledgement within 1 business day. An editor replies to the email with a tracking reference and a timeline. If the reported issue is clearly a typo or formatting problem, the fix typically ships the same day.
  2. Investigation within 5 business days for factual claims that require source review. The editor pulls the page's cited sources, cross-checks against the primary record (state statute, DOI consumer guide, AM Best filing, NAIC Consumer Information Source entry, where applicable), and confirms or revises the claim.
  3. Escalation for methodology disputes. If the reported issue is not a point-in-fact error but a question about how we interpreted or weighted the underlying evidence, the editor routes the file to the review team, which responds within 10 business days with either an updated page, a published explanation, or both.
  4. Publication of material corrections. Fixes to factual claims, rate figures, ranking positions, or citations are logged publicly on the affected page with the date, the previous value, and the reason. See What we log vs what we silently fix below.

What counts as a material correction

A correction is material and gets a dated, publicly-logged note on the affected page if any of the following applies:

  • A factual claim about a statute, regulation, or state rule changed.
  • A rate figure, premium benchmark, or cost comparison was wrong (whether modeled rate, expenditure, observed premium, or quote).
  • A ranking position, shortlist membership, or recommendation was changed.
  • A citation was wrong (misattributed, broken link, superseded by a newer primary source).
  • A carrier fact was wrong (AM Best rating, telematics mechanic, coverage availability, state footprint, legal entity).

What we log vs what we silently fix

Silently fixed, not logged: typos, broken internal anchors, formatting fixes, image alt-text, mobile layout adjustments, and markup changes that do not affect the meaning of a sentence. These are housekeeping.

Publicly logged on the page: everything in the material-correction list above. The log entry includes the date, a one-line description of what changed, and the previous value where appropriate. We do not silently change numbers.

Why primary sources

Our content ladder sits on primary and authoritative secondary sources: state insurance departments, state DMV or SOS equivalents, state statutes and administrative codes, carrier filings and 10-K disclosures, AM Best, NAIC, the Insurance Information Institute, and J.D. Power regional press releases. Where we cite a Tier 3 publisher aggregator (NerdWallet, ValuePenguin, LendingTree) for a modeled rate figure, we disclose the methodology that figure comes from and note that modeled rates are not quotes.

A correction is strongest when it points at a specific primary source. We will still investigate reports that only identify a claim as wrong without a source; those just take longer to resolve.

What corrections cannot do

  • Legal, tax, or insurance advice. YesWeSure content is informational. A corrections request cannot convert a published page into licensed professional advice. For a decision that affects a specific policy or claim, consult a licensed professional in your state.
  • Change a carrier's underwriting rules. If a page describes how a carrier underwrites and the carrier changes its filing, we update the page; we cannot change what the carrier does.
  • Compel a carrier to respond. If a page summarizes a carrier's position and the carrier later takes a different position, we update the page to reflect the new primary record.

Editorial independence

YesWeSure accepts advertiser compensation for certain quote-comparison and lead-generation links, disclosed inline and on our advertiser disclosure page. Advertiser status does not change what we publish about a carrier, does not change rankings or shortlists, and does not change the sources we cite. If a correction concerns a carrier that is currently an advertiser, the review path and the public log entry are the same as for any other carrier.

Our full editorial posture is documented in our editorial standards and how we make money pages.

Material corrections log

Chronological log of material corrections per the definition above. Each entry names the affected page or page group, what the page previously said, what it says now, the date the fix shipped to production, and the primary source we used to verify the correct value.
